Paying in installments: how does the payment schedule work?

Updated on 07/31/2026

You have chosen to pay for your booking in installments, or are you wondering about an upcoming due date? Here is how your payment schedule works, and what to do if you have trouble paying on time.

How does paying in installments work?

When your booking is eligible (made far enough in advance of your arrival date), Roomlala offers you the option to pay in installments when confirming your booking. Your payment is then divided into several installments:

  • The booking fee and an initial deposit on the rent, paid immediately to confirm the booking
  • Depending on the case, one or more intermediate deposits
  • The balance (remaining rent, additional fees, and any occupancy taxes), to be paid before your arrival

Each installment has an amount and a payment deadline. You can check them at any time from your booking by clicking on "Modify/view schedule": the "Your payment schedule" section displays each installment with its status, amount, and deadline ("Before ...").

Good to know: installments are not charged automatically. You are the one who pays each installment by credit card, by clicking on "Pay" from your schedule.

Can a due date be shifted or postponed?

No. Due dates are set by the cancellation policy of the listing you booked: they guarantee your booking with your host. They cannot therefore be shifted or postponed, neither by you, nor by your host, nor by Roomlala.

However, you can pay an installment in advance, at any time before its deadline. If you anticipate a difficulty (travel, bank processing time...), this is the best thing to do: do not wait until the last day.

What happens if an installment is not paid on time?

No unpleasant surprises: we will notify you by email, SMS, and notification 7 days then 3 days before each installment, and a final time on the deadline.

If the installment remains unpaid despite these reminders, your booking is cancelled automatically. Amounts already paid are then refunded according to the cancellation policy of the listing. To avoid this, pay your installment as soon as possible, without waiting for the deadline.

A problem with your bank or your card?

Don't panic, here are the right things to do:

  • Pay your installment now, without waiting for the deadline: this will give you time to find a solution in case of refusal
  • Try another credit card: each installment can be paid with the card of your choice
  • Contact your bank to check your card's payment limit, and ask for a temporary increase if needed

If the payment fails even though your card is working, you can contact our team by indicating the booking concerned: we will check what is blocking it. Keep in mind, however, that a banking issue does not allow you to shift the date of an installment: in the event of a refusal from your bank, paying with another card remains the fastest solution.
