What happens in the event of an early departure?

Has your plan changed and you need to move out before your scheduled date? Don't worry. On Roomlala, an early departure is perfectly possible, and the process is simple. Here is what happens in practice and how you can handle it.

Who can shorten the rental period

Early departure applies to long-term rentals, where rent is paid each month online via the payment schedule. It is the tenant who can shorten the duration of their rental, directly from their personal account.

The host, however, cannot shorten the rental on their end: they can only extend it. If you are a host and your tenant wishes to leave earlier, invite them to make the change from their own account.

How to shorten your rental

If you are a tenant and you wish to move up your departure date, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Roomlala account and open your rental payment schedule.
  • Click on the "Shorten duration" button.
  • Indicate the new end date of your rental, then click on "Modify".

What happens once the duration is shortened

As soon as you confirm the change:

  • Rent already paid remains acquired and will not be refunded.
  • Rent for the months following your new departure date is cancelled: you no longer have anything to pay for this period.
  • Your payment schedule is updated automatically with the new end date.
  • Your host is informed of the change by email.

If your new departure date falls in the middle of a month, the payment schedule adjusts so that you only pay for the period actually occupied.
