How do reviews work?
Updated on 06/04/2026
After each stay, you can leave a review and receive one in return. This is what builds trust on Roomlala. Here is how it works, where to leave it, and within what timeframe.
The principle: a mutual review
On Roomlala, the review process goes both ways. At the end of a stay, the tenant reviews the host and the host reviews the tenant. This way, everyone shares their feedback on the experience. However, the review does not take exactly the same form for both parties.
If you are a tenant: you rate your host
Your review consists of two parts:
- A rating on 4 criteria, from 1 to 5 stars: Overall, Hospitality, Cleanliness, and Reliability.
- A free-text comment, to describe your experience in your own words.
These ratings contribute to the average rating displayed on the host's profile and on their listing.
If you are a host: you comment on your tenant
On your end, the review is done in writing only: you leave a comment about the tenant you hosted, without a star system. This comment appears on the tenant's profile.
You also have the option to publicly respond to a review you have received, to say thank you or provide your perspective.
When can you leave a review?
The review becomes available the day after the check-out date. You cannot review a stay that has not yet ended: this is intentional, as the goal is to provide feedback on the complete experience.
Once submitted, your review is published immediately. It then appears on the person's profile and, for a host review, on the relevant listing and in their average rating.
Where to leave your review
Everything is handled from your personal account:
- Log in, then open the Reviews section.
- At the top, you will find your "Pending reviews": these are the stays you can still review.
- Click on the review to complete, assign your stars for each criterion, add your comment, then save.
In this same section, two tabs allow you to view your "Received reviews" and your "Sent reviews".
Timeframes to keep in mind
No need to rush, but don't delay for too long either:
- You will receive several email reminders after check-out so you don't forget to leave your feedback.
- You have up to 6 months after the end of the stay to submit your review.
- After this period, the pending review expires and it is no longer possible to write it.
Why your opinion matters
Each review helps other members choose with confidence. A well-rated host reassures future tenants, and a well-reviewed tenant inspires trust in hosts. By taking a few minutes to review your stay, you contribute to a safer and friendlier community.
