How does a booking work? (for guests)

Updated on 04/20/2026

You've found a listing you like on Roomlala and you're wondering how to book it? Don't worry, we'll guide you through each step, from the first contact with the host until your arrival at the property.

1. Find the right accommodation for you

Start by searching on Roomlala, indicating your destination and dates. Take the time to browse several listings: descriptions, photos, amenities, rental conditions, and reviews left by previous tenants. The more informed your choice, the more peaceful your stay will be.

2. Send a request to the host

On the listing page, click on the "Contact [host's first name]" button. You will then access an "Information Request" form where you specify:

  • Your arrival and departure dates
  • The number of tenants
  • An introductory message for the host

Craft your message carefully: introduce yourself briefly, explain the reason for your stay, and ask any questions you may have. A clear and friendly message significantly increases your chances of getting a positive response.

3. Communicate with the host

Your request is sent to the host, who can reply, ask you questions, pre-approve your request, or decline it. You will receive an email notification for each reply, and you can follow all your conversations in the My Bookings section of your account.

As long as you haven't paid, you are not committed to anything: this is solely the exchange stage to get acquainted and confirm that the accommodation suits you.

4. Confirm the booking by paying

Depending on the listing, two scenarios are possible:

  • The host has pre-approved your request: you are invited to pay to confirm the booking.
  • The listing is for instant booking: you can pay directly without waiting for the host's approval.

Payment is made securely online by credit card. The amount depends on the type of rental:

  • For a short-term stay: the entire stay is paid at the time of booking.
  • For a long-term rental: you pay the first month and, if applicable, the security deposit. Subsequent months are paid according to the established schedule.

Roomlala service fees are added at the time of payment and are clearly shown in the summary before confirmation.

5. Receive confirmation of your stay

Once payment has been made and the host confirmed, your booking is validated. You will receive a summary email with all the useful information: dates, accommodation address, and host contact details.

We recommend contacting your host again a few days before your arrival to agree on the time and practical arrangements (key handover, access code, etc.).

6. Arrival and property inspection

On arrival day, go to the property at the time agreed with the host. Take the time to inspect the accommodation together and report any issues immediately. An arrival property inspection can be completed directly from your Roomlala space and electronically signed by both parties. A departure property inspection will be completed in the same manner at the end of your stay.

7. After the stay: leave a review

At the end of your stay, you are invited to leave a review for your host and the accommodation. Take a moment to do so: your feedback helps future tenants make their choice and allows hosts to improve their hospitality.
