How does multi-instalment payment work?

Found the perfect place and want to book it without paying all at once? Good news: on Roomlala, you can pay for your booking in instalments, with no extra fees. Here's how it works.

Am I eligible for instalment payments?

Instalment payments are automatically offered when your arrival date is far enough in advance. Specifically, it all depends on the cancellation policy chosen by the property owner:

  • Strict policy: your arrival must be more than 30 days away.
  • Moderate policy: your arrival must be more than 14 days away.
  • Flexible policy: your arrival must be more than 2 days away.

If these conditions are met and you have not yet made a payment for this booking, the option will be offered to you at the time of payment.

How do I choose instalment payments?

When paying for your booking, you will see the "Payment method" section with two choices:

  • Pay in full: you pay the total amount immediately.
  • Pay in instalments: you only pay the booking commission now, and the rest according to a payment schedule.

Select "Pay in instalments", verify the displayed payment schedule, then click the button to confirm your booking.

How is the payment distributed?

The payment schedule depends on the listing's cancellation policy.

Strict or Moderate Policy: 3 Instalments

  • Instalment 1 — Booking commission: paid immediately at the time of booking.
  • Instalment 2 — Rental deposit (30%): to be paid by the cancellation deadline (30 days before arrival for the strict policy, 14 days for the moderate policy).
  • Instalment 3 — Balance: the remaining amount (remaining rent, utilities, and any tourist tax), to be paid no later than 2 days before your arrival.

Flexible Policy: 2 Instalments

  • Instalment 1 — Booking commission: paid immediately at the time of booking.
  • Instalment 2 — Balance: the total rent, utilities, and any tourist tax, to be paid no later than 2 days before your arrival.

Where can I view my payment schedule?

Once your booking is confirmed, go to your personal account, under the bookings section. You will find your complete payment schedule there under the title "Your payment schedule", with for each instalment:

  • The type of payment (commission, deposit, or balance)
  • The amount to be paid
  • The payment deadline
  • The status: "Paid", "Before [date]", or "Overdue"

A payment button appears next to the next instalment due. Instalments must be paid in order.

What happens if I miss a deadline?

Don't panic, you have a 3-day grace period after each deadline to make your payment. But be aware: if an instalment is still not paid after this period, your booking will be automatically cancelled.

To avoid any unpleasant surprises, Roomlala sends you reminders by email, SMS, and notification 7 days then 3 days before each instalment.

Are there fees for instalment payments?

No. Instalment payments are free: the total amount is the same, whether you pay in full or in instalments. No surcharge applies.
