Rental agreement

Wondering which contract to use for your rental and how to access it? Don't panic, we'll explain everything.

Why sign a rental contract?

Signing a rental contract is strongly recommended, regardless of the length of the stay: short, medium, or long-term. This document and its clauses protect you in the event of a dispute.

Using a platform like Roomlala does not exempt you from creating one. Even if you receive a booking confirmation email from Roomlala, we advise you to also sign a contract and attach any necessary supporting documents required in your country.

The templates offered by Roomlala

Depending on your country and the duration of the rental, Roomlala may provide a free contract template to assist you. The type of contract offered depends notably on the type of housing (furnished or not) and the rental duration.

These templates are provided for information purposes only. They are not binding on Roomlala and do not necessarily cover all situations. Applicable rules vary from one country to another, and local specificities (notice periods, mandatory statements, supporting documents, caps, etc.) may differ from the template.

This is why it is up to you to verify that the contract you sign is fully compliant with the legislation in force where the accommodation is located. In case of doubt, consult a legal professional. The Roomlala template is a starting point, not a guarantee of legal validity.

Is it mandatory to validate the contract on Roomlala?

No. Using the contract offered on Roomlala is not mandatory. You are free to sign another contract, outside the platform, that is better suited to your situation or your country.

The host can certainly offer their own template if they wish, or a template that complies with local customs. The essential thing is that both parties agree and that the contract respects the applicable law.

How to access contracts on Roomlala?

From your personal account, open the messaging system and then select the relevant booking. In the conversation, the Contract section appears on the side of the page: this is where you can view the corresponding contract.

How does it work?

The final contract is available only after the booking is confirmed, that is to say once the payment has been made and the rental has been accepted by the host.

It is then the host who must initiate the signing of the contract. The tenant cannot sign until the host has done so.

If the tenant leaves the accommodation earlier than expected

The contract template offered by Roomlala does not provide for a notice period in the event of early departure by the tenant. However, notice rules vary according to the country and the type of rental.

In France, for example, the legal notice period for a furnished rental is one month, starting from the day the tenant announces their departure. If you wish to include a notice clause, you can have a different contract signed, other than the Roomlala one, that includes it.

If no contract was signed upon the tenant's arrival, you cannot demand a notice period in the event of early departure: the tenant can leave the accommodation without notifying you in advance.

Things to remember

  • Depending on your country, Roomlala may offer a free contract template, provided for information purposes.
  • This template is not mandatory: you can sign another contract outside the platform.
  • Local specificities may differ from the template: it is up to you to verify its legal compliance.
  • The contract is available once the booking is confirmed, and it is the host who initiates the signature.
